SUE DEAKIN  Health& Wellness Coach

Sue is Owner/manager of 8 Limb Yoga Mackay. Sue has years of knowledge and experience in many styles of Yoga, including Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa flow, Yin and Restorative Yoga. Sue is the  director of teacher training at 8Limb, offering 200hr RYT certification with Yoga Alliance International.Sue is currently studying a 3 year Advanced Diploma of Ayurvedic studies with Dr Ajit through the Australasia Institute of Ayurvedic Studies.

Sue is a published Author in the bestselling Heart to Heart series alongside industry leaders Dr John Demartini and Bob Doyle who are both featured in The Secret.


Sue is married and has three beautiful daughters that she is most proud of. Sue first became interested in Yoga many years ago as she was searching for a better quality of life not quantity. The stresses of everyday life, raising a family and owning many different businesses with her husband were taking its toll and she was looking for happiness in all the wrong places.


While holidaying in Malaysia in 2005 she was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga and then moved to Auckland New Zealand in 2010 with her family where she had the opportunity to dedicate herself to two and a half years intensive teacher training at the Auckland Yoga Academy.  Sue is a 500hr RYT Teacher with years of teaching experience and has coached 200RYT Yoga Teachers, some of who teach at the studio today.


Sue travels abroad regularly to keep evolving her own practice and share her experience and knowledge with students and teachers of 8 Limb and anyone looking to become a Yoga teacher or anyone wanting to undertake the training for personal development. 


Sue has a deep passion to teach the Yoga principles and is interested in working with students to develop strength in body and mind to face the daily challenges life presents on and off the yoga mat. Sue is trained in Anatomy, Physiology, Pregnancy Yoga, Meditation, Philosophy and Sanskit Chanting. One of Sue's favorite Quotes is from Mahatama Gandhi "You must be the change you want to see in the world"

  • What has Yoga taught you- To accept the bitter and sweet parts of life and that sometimes the bitter is leading us to something sweet.  

  • Favorite Yoga book – All of Stephen Cope’s books. I have read The Wisdom of Yoga many times and still love it. 

  • Biggest Challenge on the mat – In the beginning it was to get on my mat 5 days per week and now I look forward to it everyday

  • Biggest challenge off the mat – Not sure if it’s a challenge but it is to introduce many more people to practice the 8 limbs of Yoga so they can work towards finding their true potential.
