Sue travels abroad regularly to keep evolving her own practice and share her experience and knowledge with students and teachers of 8 Limb and anyone looking to become a Yoga teacher or anyone wanting to undertake the training for personal development.

Sue has a deep passion to teach the Yoga principles and is interested in working with students to develop strength in body and mind to face the daily challenges life presents on and off the yoga mat. Sue is trained in Anatomy, Physiology, Pregnancy Yoga, Meditation, Philosophy and Sanskit Chanting. One of Sue's favorite Quotes is from Mahatama Gandhi "You must be the change you want to see in the world"

ASHLEIGH SUN

From Taiwan, I used to work at a dance studio as a part-time dancer. The first time I had a connection to yoga was because of a knee and back injury. Yoga practice has opened and started my yoga journey - I've learnt not to be perfect all the time, and accept who I am.

With continuous practice at local yoga studio Space - Taipei, the seed was planted of wanting to become a yoga teacher. I decided to enrol with Shanti yoga on the Gold Coast as an international student for two years (2013-2015) I trained and learnt the theory under Shanti Gowans.

This qualification required 1,200 hours which gave me the certification and diploma degree. Shanti Gowans yoga program is a holistic program for body, mind, and spirit. "Yoga journey is not just a physical training but also a mind training" - to share with you all.

She took a Hatha class & walked out of the room feeling amazing.  She continued coming to class regularly and also did her own home practice.

Yoga changed her life and it was an easy decision to make to undertake the teacher training at 8 Limb.  Nadine loves teaching and looks forward to sharing the joy of yoga with others.Nadine has 200hr RYT certification with Yoga Alliance International.

CAROL MCCORMACK

In 2014 an english friend took Carol to a local yoga class in the community hall which she enjoyed but was unable to continue due to other commitments. Early the following year she decided to investigate options for more regular yoga in Mackay, and discovered the 8 Limb Yoga Studio (and as they say the rest is history). Carol had previously attended gyms, swam laps and cycled a couple of times a week but never truly enjoyed these pursuits rather participating because she thought: it was healthy to be fit.

The beginning of yoga classes could not have been more positive for Carol with immediate benefits to her mind and body. Soon after came the 30 day transformation offered at the studio and the journey of Self-practice. After enjoying workshops and yoga as she traveled on holidays, Carol realised she wanted to continue on a deeper journey and be part of a team sharing yoga with others.

Teaching yoga to children, adolescents and adults seemed to be calling and so she completed teacher training with Sue Deakin at the 8 Limb Studio and regards her journey with yoga as one of the most profound and positive life changing experiences ever! Carol has 200hr RYT certification with Yoga Alliance International.

Gina McLaughlan (Gigi)

Yoga has been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I had always believed that life was more than just the physical. I let yoga slip away from my life in my early twenties and didn’t realise that a piece of me was missing until I moved to London in 2015. I received a discount voucher for a local yoga studio, and I began to practice again. I was so lucky to be blessed with an amazing teacher who inspired and believed in me. My practice helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live my life in the moment.

My inner guidance told me that I had to share what I had learnt and experienced in yoga with others, so I completed my 200hr RYT certification with Yoga Alliance International this year through 8 Limb. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me.

In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing the body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling balanced, grounded and fabulous.

5 seconds with Gigi:

  • Birthplace – Lower Hutt, NZ

  • First Yoga Class – Jenkins Gym, Lower Hutt

  • Favourite Yoga Principle – Yoga is a method of attaining oneness with reality/divine, beyond the ego and beyond the mind.

  • Favourite Yoga book – it’s not a yoga book, but Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert gave me the inspiration to start my yoga journey and creative living beyond fear.

  • Biggest Challenge on the mat – Letting go of the ego, not comparing myself with others both in the room and on Social Media

  • Biggest challenge off the mat – Pratyahara, withdrawing from sensory gratification. We as Westerners living in the modern world have been conditioned from a young age to rely on our happiness as being external. With yoga, overtime, slowly those walls of conditioning came away and what came was acceptance that our true nature is bliss.
